Gen Rosso Concert in Ogliara
Mark your calendars for June 13 in the hillside village of Ogliara for a concert by Gen Rosso, a group founded in 1966 in Loppiano, a small town in the Tuscan hills near Florence. Chiara Lubich (UNESCO Prize for Peace Education) gave the young people of Little Town a red guitar and a drum set.
Hence the group’s name: Gen Rosso, where GEN stands for New Generation and Rosso (Red) is the color of the first drum set.
Always recognized as an international band due to the cultural diversity of its members, Gen Rosso is composed of musicians, singers, and technicians from different parts of the world who combine their professional and human heritage with anartistic experience that has taken them to Italian and international stages, to prisons, refugee camps, shantytowns, and places affected by natural disasters, poverty, or severe social hardship.
The event, with its strong cultural, artistic, and religious appeal, will take place in the churchyard of the Church of St. Mary and St. Nicholas, with the anticipated presence of numerous faithful and youth groups from dioceses across the region.
The concert on the evening of the 13th will be preceded, on the 12th, by a workshop led by the musical group itself, together with the flower artists of Ogliara and various youth groups from the local dioceses.
The concert will take place on Saturday, June 13, at 9:00 p.m.
