What cookies are and what they are used for
A cookie is a small text file that some websites create on the user’s device when they access the site, in order to store and transmit information. Cookies are sent by a web server (the computer running the visited website) to the user’s browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, etc.) and stored on their device; they are then sent back to the website on subsequent visits.
Some operations could not be carried out without cookies, which in certain cases are therefore technically necessary. In other cases, cookies facilitate browsing or allow users to access specifically requested services. Cookies may remain in the system for long periods and may contain a unique identifier code. This allows the websites that use them to track the user’s browsing for statistical or advertising purposes, even building a personalised profile based on the pages visited and displaying targeted advertising (so-called Behavioural Advertising).

The website cultura.comune.salerno.it uses various types of technical, non-profiling cookies. Below are the categories of cookies used, their purposes and the consequences of deselecting them:

Third-party cookies
Third-party cookies are also active on the site, i.e. cookies created by a website other than the one the user is currently visiting. The Controller is required to provide the updated link to the privacy notices and consent forms of the third parties with which specific agreements have been made for the installation of cookies.
In particular, the site uses the web analytics service Google Analytics, provided by Google, Inc. The information generated by the cookie about the use of the site (including the IP address) is transmitted to Google and stored on its servers. Google uses this information to track and examine the use of the site, compile reports on site activity for the operator, and provide other services relating to site activity and Internet use.
