The Opening Ceremony was officially presented to the Municipality of Salerno European University Games EUG Salerno 2026. Five days from the start of the biggest sporting event, scheduled from 18 July to 1 August, were illustrated to the press and public citizen the organization and logistics of theinaugural event of Salerno 2026, scheduled on Saturday 18 July, at 8.30 p.m., in Piazza della Libertà.

The Event, promoted under the aegis of EAEC (European University Sports Association), sees in the Organizing Committee 2026 the University of Salerno, the Cus Salerno, the Regional Company for the Law to the Studio ADISURC, with the support of FederCusi and Campania Region.

The European event, which brings together more than 200 Athens, will kick off Saturday with the Opening Ceremony that will take place in Piazza Liberta with the initial protocol of the parade of the Athletes.

The theme will be Mediterranean Mediterranean Mediterranean that unites peoples and nations, which also evokes the theme of the foundation of Salernitana Medical School: a first moment of entertainment will see dancers performing in a bright marine scenario.

The second protocol is followed by the greetings of the Organizing Committee 2026 and the authorities present, the oath of the Athletes and Arbitrs.

It will end with the musical moment of involvement and the performance of Les Votives directly from X Factor.

From today, from 18.30, on the site of the event – www.eug2026.eu – and on that of the University – www.unisa.it – the Ceremony booking form is officially open to the public and citizenship.

To close the conference with the press bodies the Mayor of Salerno Vincenzo De Luca, who focused the values of the event: “Sport, culture, peace and development: these are the values of the event. We reconcile ourselves after many centuries with the history of culture of Europe, Salerno was the first university community (“Universitas”) in Europe. This is how we open up a great story that our university is bringing back to auge. Salerno and the University as places of witness to rebuild fundamental key values, first of all peace. The event is an opportunity for the development of relations of solidarity, knowledge, friendship and respect. Without dialogue it becomes impossible to maintain peace. And with peace human civilization develops. The image of the palm of Piazza della Liberta accompanies the event, with the involvement of the whole provincial territory with 13 municipalities: a moment of relaunch of Europe and European civilization. We will have an extraordinary result and we will be able to project the Athenaeum, its great cultural history, Salerno, the South, Campania in the world as a virtuous reality where it does not surrender thanks to important values such as those of sport“.
