Restart 2026 – The [S] object found

The project

“restart 2026” is an artistic project – a cultural project that has reached its third edition, dedicated to the theme of upcycling, intended as a creative process of recovering and transforming existing materials that, at the end of their original life cycle, are reinterpreted and intended for new functions and meanings.

One of the main features of restart 2026 is the dialogue between art and literature built around the figure of Grazia Deledda, on the double anniversary of the hundred years from the award of the Nobel Prize for Literature and ninety years from its disappearance.

The project relates Tibaldi’s artistic research with the narrative universe of the Sardinian writer, united by the attention to marginal realities, the strength of resilience and the ability to transform fragility in the occasion of redemption. Upcycling becomes the visual translation of that same hope that crosses the pages of Canne to the wind: what appears consumed or forgotten can find meaning, identity and future.

Restart 2026 is not only an exhibition, but an articulated cultural workshop open to the territory. In addition to the exhibition, a talk program will take place with artists, scholars of literature and sustainability experts, guided tours, activities for schools and universities, meetings dedicated to circular economy and urban regeneration.

Project purpose

Restart proposes itself as a multidisciplinary cultural project capable of combining creativity, sustainability, training and participation, promoting greater environmental awareness and a wider community of culture. The main objectives include promoting the culture of sustainability through art and spreading the value of creative reuse and circular economy.

The project also aims to stimulate a reflection on the relationship between man, environment, consumption and collective responsibility, as well as fostering dialogue between contemporary art and literature through the figure of Grazia Deledda. Finally, it aims to involve young generations in creative, training and active citizenship, enhancing the San Michele Complex as a place of culture, confrontation and participation.

Concept

Art as an instrument of awareness, awareness and cultural change, culture as a motor of sustainability and young people as the protagonists of a new model of participation. The theme of upcycling, the creative reuse of waste materials, transformed by art into new forms of expression, memory and value.

The exhibition and related events

Exhibition “the (S)OGGETTO rediscovered”

Fulcro of the 2026 edition will be the exhibition “il (S)OGGETTO rediscoverto”, open from 3 October to 3 November 2026, at the Complex San Michele in Salerno, curated by Fabio Avella, president of the Collaterart Association and the Galleria Umberto Di Marino in Naples.

The protagonist will be Eugenio Tibaldi, one of the most appreciated Italian artists on the international scene for his research dedicated to the themes of marginality, urban transformations and the relationship between economy, territory and landscape.

The exhibition will collect about fifteen installations created through recovered materials and abandoned objects that, subtracted to their destiny of waste, become works able to tell new stories. A poetic that restores dignity to the discard and invites the public to question the value of resources, consumption and the possibilities of regeneration of matter.

Creative workshop “Giardino Abusivo”

Great attention will be paid to young people through the creative workshop “Giardino Abusivo” conceived and conducted by Eugenio Tibaldi, which will involve thirty boys of Salerno and province of Salerno in the design and realization of a collective installation destined to become part of the exhibition.

Competition for the award of the “Wine Wind” Prize

The “Canne al Vento” Award is also dedicated to young people, a competition aimed at emerging artists called to create works with recovery materials, with the aim of promoting new creative languages and spreading a culture of sustainability.

The Prize – promoted by the Fondazione Carisal in the context of the Project Restart 2026 – is aimed at young artists between 16 and 25 years living in Campania, with the aim of promoting new creative languages and spreading a culture of sustainability.

The winning work will also be the protagonist of the final event of restart 2026, becoming part of the exhibition and enhancement path promoted by Fondazione Carisal.

With the “Wine Wind” Award, the Carisal Foundation invites young people to create works with recovery materials and to transform creativity into a tool for change, demonstrating that even what seems to have exhausted its value can reborn through art.

Because every recovered material can tell a new story. And every young artist can help build a more sustainable culture, aware and able to look to the future.

The exhibition will be open from 3 October to 3 November 2026, from Monday to Saturday, from 16.30 to 20.00. Antimeridian opening is available by reservation or for school visits.
