Immediately outside the center of Salerno, in the eastern part of the city, there are villas and parks that for their peculiarities deserve attention and value peripheral areas of Salerno very alive and in continuous development.

Extended description

In the popular district of Pastena you can visitVilla Carrara. The villa, belonging to the noble family Carrara, was a country house, with annexed a park that extended to the sea. During the eighteenth century, Charles of Bourbon repeatedly hosted during his trips to the residence of Persano, then hunting area. For years Villa Carrara has been the seat ofLibrary municipal with over 13,000 volumes. The lush garden and spacious rooms where events and events are hosted make this complex a lively cultural pole.


In the same neighborhood, a few steps from the Church of the Holy Face, there is the gardenMariele Ventre, entitled to the director of the Piccolo Coro dell’Antoniano prematurely disappeared. Equipped with a refreshment point, benches and vegetation that shelters from the summer heat, the garden is a small green corner where you can enjoy a relaxing break.


Not too far from the best knownMercatello Parkhas been realizedVilla Comunale Ciro Bracciante,positive testimony of a complex urban rehabilitation project conducted in the nineties by the Municipal Administration throughout the district. The villa is characterized by a large central aiuola, a small amphitheatre often used for shows.


Located in the upper part of the Torrione districtGalician Parkextends over an area of about 8,000 square meters, with completely barrier-free paths. The park includes a regulated soccer field and a play area for children and can also accommodate dogs in an enclosed space, specially designed for our four-legged friends.
