Confession of a former president is a work by Davide Carnevali who explores the theme of power and its moral and personal implications. The plot revolves around a former president who, after leaving his post, finds himself reflecting on his life, his choices and the consequences of his actions.
The text invites the public to reflect on the nature of power, the fragility of the human being and the complexity of the role of a leader. Writing is characterized by an incisive language and a strong emotional charge, making the work engaging and in some ways irreverent.
Fabrizio Arcuri and Filippo Nigro in drawing an ideal trilogy of shows with a strong relationship with the public meet on their trajectory the text of Davide Carnevali written in 2012 and from complicity with the author born this new version that Carnevali has rewritten and adapted for this new exhibition.
The President is the second stage, a second part of an ideal mosaic, this time more addressed to civil society, after Every Brilliant Thing (The things for which it is worth living) by Duncan Macmillan, who instead had a clear look towards a communicative dimension linked to universal themes and the sense of life.
Davide Carnevali is a contemporary Italian theatrical author, known for his works that often address social and psychological issues with an innovative style. It is appreciated for its ability to mix different languages and theatrical forms, creating works that can be both provocative and reflective. Carnevali has written numerous theatrical texts that have been staged in various theatres in Italy and abroad.
