Special opening
The museum was founded in 1982 by an idea of Peppe Natella and the artistic work of the painter Mario Carooste, to whom the Diocese offered the San Lazzaro room, adjacent to the Cathedral of Salerno.
Carooste was inspired by the Victorian postcards, the painted silhouettes of the Campanian edicoles of the Nocerino Agro, the sacredness and the typology of the place to create an unpublished and evocative crib.
The master called as models for his shepherds royal characters, the humble people of the neighborhood, women and children who attended the nearby parish, staged a unique and original work in his spiritual representation.
