Press Release – Salerno, 1 October 2026

Festival of museums Salerno 2026: over 2,000 participants and 92% of appreciation for a city that finds its identity in the places of culture

The third edition of the event confirms the value of the network “Salerno” and indicates the way for the future of the city cultural system.

The third edition of the third edition of the event ended on Sunday 27 SeptemberMuseum Festival, promoted byMunicipality of Salernowith the support ofRegionand the collaboration of different institutions, bodies and associations of the territory, and it is time of budgets.

In a week the networkSalernowelcomedmore than two thousand participants in eleven places of culture, with14 activitiesand22 datesbetween special visits, workshops, exhibitions and extraordinary openings.

But one of the most important results iscollective work of museumsof the city network that, together, guard and tell thecultural identity of the city, building a complex representation of Salerno and its ancient and modern history. Putting these places in relationship, making them work together and presenting them through a common vision is not discounted and means transforming a plurality of institutions into a trueshared cultural heritagefor citizens and tourists.

The other strength is theholiday format, born not only to multiply the occasions of visit, but to proposenew heritage readings, original narratives, different experiences and languages, able to turn to different publics and to make discover museums and collections from less usual points of view.

To confirm it is above all the judgement of visitors:the approval, detected during the events and in the following days, has reached 92%, an almost unanimous consent.

The initiative thus confirms, even in this third edition, the value of a path started a few years ago and carried out by the Municipality of Salerno together with the Campania Region, foran urban cultural network capable of working as a system.

In detail, the highest attendance came from the extraordinary openings:861 visitors for the evening at the Minerva Garden, with guided tours from the director, andover 500 for the opening of the Museum of the nativity scene painted by Mario Caroallo. Great participation also for the dance and digital evening“The Over”to theNational Archaeological Museum of Pontecagnano– activities also included in the European Heritage Days – with more than 100 presences, and for the proposals ofEbris Museum, which recalled many visitors with the inauguration of the exhibition “Cloisters. Spaces of silence and light“.

All closed number activities recorded theall exhausted: for the theatrical visit“Go to the Castle” at the Arechi Castlereservations have far exceeded the available places. Children and families were the protagonists of the visit game “The Etruscan letter. Mystery at the museum” in Pontecagnano and activities at the Museo Città Creativa, from the presentation of the volume “L’albero Luigi” to the ceramic workshop “Mano all’arte”.

Among the new readings of the heritage are the path “Dotti, doctors and… patients”, from the Virtual Museum of the Medical School of Salerno to the Museum of Medicine “Roberto Papi”, the guided tour “Welcome to the museum!” to the Provincial Archaeological Museum and the activities at the Monumental Complex of San Pietro a Corte – held by CTG Salerno in conjunction with the European Heritage Days – where visitors left on a panel thoughts and proposals on the future.

The Museum Festival was born from a format created by Mediateur for the Salerno Museum network. The visits, workshops and special activities were designed and realized by CoopCulture.

At the 2026 edition they collaborated with the Regional Direction National Museums Campania, the Province of Salerno, the Archdiocese of Salerno-Campagna-Acerno, the Fondazione Scuola medica Salernitana, the Soprintendenza Archeologia, Belle Arti and Landscape for the provinces of Salerno and Avellino and the Fondazione Ebris, together with associations and public and private realities of the territory.
