“The heart will have words. Literature in restless times“
The fourteenth edition of Salerno Literature, scheduled from 13 to 20 June, intends to pay a tribute to Alfonso Gatto, choosing his own verse (“The heart will have words. Literature in restless times“) that sounds like an exhortation and an omen, in restless and dark days like those we are living. Many, as every year, the sections that will welcome writers, artists, performers, representatives of the world of culture (Finances, Visions, Sounds, Classic, The Tale of Science, Philosophy, Views on the Current World, Historical, Poetry, Graphic Novel, Space Boys, Courses/Laboratori).
Numerous guests who will animate this edition, ready to transform the places of the historic center of Salerno into a great cultural hub where a community can find itself in the sign of culture. Elena Kostioukovitch, Goffredo Buccini, Lucrezia Ercoli, Andrea Moro, Franco Marcoaldi, Horst Bredekamp, Antiniska Pozzi, Marino Niola, Enrico Terrinoni, Alberto Mario Banti, Emanuele Trevi, Elena Bucci, Andrea Minuz, Gigi Riva, Ruska Jorioliani, Yassin Adnan, Asmae Dachanno, Frank Westerman Among the graphic novel authors are Igiaba Scego and Rajae Bezzaz.
This year the prolusion that opens Salerno Literature will have a special form. Preceded by a scenic reading from the work of the great poet Alfonso Gatto, curated by Marianna Esposito and in collaboration with the Gatto Foundation, artistic directors Gennaro Carillo and Paolo Di Paolo will dialogue on the theme of the festival. What does a fateful heart mean? And above all what are the words you can and will have to say? Does the verse preserve a civil and ethical sense? Words and their relationship with things, loss or perversion of the meaning of words, are one of the great problems of every crisis age. And what we’re living is full of it.
