Description

Presented the Theatre Season 2026/2027 of the New Theatre, an event that renews the deep link between the historic city hall and its audience.

The main comic billboard consists of 11 shows in subscription, offering a rich and varied overview for all stage lovers.

The inauguration of the season will take place on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October with Beatrice Fazi and Enzo Casertano, interpreters of the comedy entitled “Call him… still love“, written by Augusto Fornari, Toni Fornari, Andrea Maia and Vincenzo Sinopoli, directed by Toni Fornari.

The last weekend of October, precisely Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November, will see the couple formed by Paolo Caiazzo and Antonello Costa in the show entitled “A bridge for two“, signed by Costa and Caiazzo themselves with the direction of the latter.

To follow, Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November, will be the turn of Gino Rivieccio with “A holiday with bows“, by Gustavo Verde and Gino Rivieccio, who will see the participation of Daniela Cenciotti with the direction of Renato Giordano.

The month of November will close Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 with the historical artistic director Ugo Piastrella, flanked by Claudio Collano and Tonino Di Folco, in the exhilarating comedy of Samy Fayad entitled “The Daddy“.

The month of December will open Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December with Justine Mattera and Pierluigi Iorio, protagonists of the famous text of Peppino De Filippo entitled “A country boy“.

Immediately after, Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 December, Marco Cavallaro will stage his brilliant comedy entitled “If I marry you,“.

The great news of this season is represented by the insertion of a mini festival that will embellish the month of January 2027, historically dedicated to the Christmas break.

This is how it was born.Pokerssimo Comico“, a special cycle from the subtitle “4 Assi 1 Jolly. The perfect hand of comedy”: 5 evenings between cabaret, music, laughter and variety that will see alternating on stage of the New Theatre some of the most beloved names of the comic panorama according to the following calendar:

– 2 and 3 January: Lino D’Angiò

– 9 and 10 January: Green

– 16 and 17 January: Lucio Bastolla

– 23 and 24 January: Pierino Tiramisù

– 30 and 31 January: Gennaro Morrone

For this special event the cost of the single evening is Euro 15,00, while the subscription for the 5 shows is proposed to Euro 50,00.

A special promotion is also introduced to support the most assiduous visitors of the room: the cost of the subscription to the exhibition will be reduced to Euro 35,00 for all those who are already subscribed to the main comic billboard of the Teatro Nuovo.

After this crackling beginning of the year, the programming will resume in February with three unmissable appointments. Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 February Rosario Verde will propose the comedy “Big family business“, written together with Marco Lanzuise.

The next weekend, Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 February, will be the turn of Caterina De Santis and Fabio Brescia in the show written by De Santis himself entitled “A crunchy mother-in-law“.

The appointments of February will end Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 with the proven couple formed by Marco Lanzuise and Salvatore Turco in the comedy entitled “Happy condolences“.

The spring will see the return on the stage of Ugo Piastrella, accompanied by Maria Caiafa and Lucio Bastolla, Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 March to interpret “One with white hair“, a classic signed by the master Eduardo De Filippo.

To close the theatrical season will be Oscar Di Maio on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 April with the famous comedy of Gaetano Di Maio entitled “Gennaro Belvedere blind witness“, which will also see Alessandra Borrelli and the participation of Oscarino Di Maio, who also curates the direction.

The organizers remember that all the shows will follow the usual hours of the weekend, with the turn A of the Saturday fixed at 21.00 and the reply of the Sunday B turn scheduled for 18.30.

The subscription campaign for the 11 main shows, open from July 15th to October 15th at the box office, provides various tariff formulas for holders of last season’s card, for over 65, for young students and for corporate crals.

There is also the possibility to take advantage of government bonuses related to the Doctrine Card and the Culture Card.

  • Cultural Venues and TheatresCultural venues and theatres in Salerno enliven the city’s artistic life with a dense network of historic halls and contemporary spaces dedicated to theatre, cinema, music and performing arts. From the Municipal Theatre Giuseppe Verdi and the Cinema Teatro Augusteo to the Teatro Ghirelli, Sala Pasolini and neighbourhood theatres such as Teatro delle Arti, Piccolo Teatro del Giullare and Teatro Nuovo, these spaces host seasons, festivals, workshops and projects that make culture accessible to residents and visitors all year round.
  • Churches and MonasteriesThe churches and monasteries of Salerno preserve the spiritual and historical heart of the city, especially in the old town centre, where monumental buildings and more intimate spaces tell centuries of faith and art. From the Cathedral of San Matteo to the monastic complexes of San Benedetto, Santa Sofia and San Giorgio, a journey through these sites crosses different eras — from medieval and baroque architecture to spaces now repurposed for culture — keeping alive the connection with the religious roots of the territory.
  • Palaces and SquaresPalaces and squares in Salerno form a vibrant urban fabric, where noble residences, historical archives and monumental spaces recount the city’s civil and social evolution from the Middle Ages to the twentieth century. From Piazza Portanova and Largo Campo to Piazza Abate Conforti, from Palazzo Fruscione to the City Hall and the many historic buildings along Via dei Mercanti and in the Duomo district, every corner offers evocative architectural settings that combine history, everyday life and the symbolic places of the Salerno community.
  • Museums and ArchaeologyMuseums and archaeology in Salerno recount the thousand-year history of the territory through artefacts spanning from prehistory to the Roman era, housed in a network of institutions spread across the city. From the Provincial Archaeological Museum, hosted in the former monastery of San Benedetto and dominated by the famous bronze head of Apollo, to civic and diocesan museums and the routes dedicated to the Etruscan-Samnite sites of Fratte, each exhibition offers an immersive journey through everyday objects, funerary goods, sculptures and the evidence of ancient civilisations in the Salerno area.
  • Gardens and ParksGardens and parks in Salerno offer a widespread network of green areas stretching across the entire city — from historic gardens to large urban parks — creating spaces for relaxation and socialising just steps from the sea. From the Parco del Mercatello to the Parco del Seminario, from the Parco dell’Irno to the gardens of the eastern district and the Giardino della Minerva, these places combine nature, outdoor sports and cultural events, enhancing the urban landscape and making the city more liveable in every season.
  • Modern ArchitectureModern architecture in Salerno reshapes the relationship between the city and the sea with iconic buildings and open public spaces, transforming the waterfront into a new contemporary urban hub. From the Crescent and Piazza della Libertà to Zaha Hadid’s maritime station, the Santa Teresa seafront and the Cittadella Giudiziaria, a dynamic architectural landscape emerges — one of fluid lines, essential volumes and sea-facing squares designed for the social and cultural life of the city.
