    Description

    From training to stage
    Dedicated to Margherita Rago

    Artistic direction Antonello De Rosa

    9 shows, from 9 to 19 July 2026 | Arco Catalano, via Mercanti 64 – Salerno

TheCatalan arch, the architectural jewel of the fifteenth century in the historical heart of Salerno, prepares to welcome the exhibition “The serious play of the theatre, from training to stage – Dedicated to Margherita Rago” with the artistic direction of the actor, director and playwright Antonello De Rosa.

A full immersion in the theatrical universe, in the cross between myth, classicism and contemporaneity, to the depths of the infinite nuances of the human being, in a sensory vertigo that exceeds traditional narrative conventions and investigates the fragility of man, indifference, thirst for power, the psychological implications of complex characters, with continuous references to current events.

The power of the stage becomes a space for creativity and experimentation. Emerging talents and great professionals will alternate in a dense review: nine shows in eleven days, scheduled from 9 to 19 July 2026, promoted and organized by Scena Teatro Management, under the patronage of the Municipality of Salerno, the University of Salerno and the support of the Reti e Sistemi Culturali Sector of the Province of Salerno and the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio Salernitana.

‘A new edition of “The serious play of the theatre”, with a huge expressive force, synthesized in the title and subtitle by the very important value – emphasizes Antonello De Rosa, founder of Scena Teatro and among the major exponents of the New Dramaturgy – From the training to the stage is the element of conjunction I want to get to the public, because in this review there is room for students, for future actors studying in the Academy. It is a laboratory work that slowly accompanies the student to become a professional: the first appointments are dedicated to the formation and on stage there will be all the boys of the Accademia di Scena Teatro, with complex performances, dedicated to the figures of the Greek tragedy, from Clitennestra to Fedra. Then will emerge the professionalism of artists like Serena Stella, Rosanna De Bonis, Antonella Valitutti, Tina Agrippino, to close with Lalla Esposito. I usually leave room for the guests, but this year I decided to reserve for me a very important evening for all Scena Teatro, with the tribute I personally will do to Margherita Rago. A tribute to my Margherita, this extraordinary artist whose life has been torn too fast. In this show, in which I always directed her, I will be the one who for years has brought her on stage, which was an extraordinary column in my professional and personal growth, but especially for the evolution of Scena. It is a thin red thread that connects young and professional».

    THE PROGRAMME

As an established custom of Scena Teatro, the first part of the exhibition will be dedicated to the Greek myth, with an introspective investigation of the characters who fascinate and question. Starting the 9 and 10 July 2026 at 21.00 with the Scena Teatro Lab section with the show Clitennester. A performance that sheds light on the darkness of the interiority of Clitennestra, the queen of Mycenae murdered her husband Agamennone for revenge and thirst for power. One of the most obscure and complex stories of Greek mythology, of which emerges the psychological implications of the direction of Antonello De Rosa, but also the resentment and loneliness, passion and pain: a woman who bears on her the weight of a trauma, of a violence suffered.

Continue with the young people of the Academy11 and 12 July at 21.00 with Sophocles, among the greatest tragic poets of ancient Greece, ranging from the saving power of love to the condemnation of tyranny, exploring the deep complexity of the human soul.

The forbidden and destructive love of Fender will be on stage 13 July at 21.00. Married of Theseus and Queen of Athens, she fell in love with her daughter Hippolytus. Rejected, he committed suicide by leaving a false accusation against the young man, triggering a terrible chain of deaths. One of the most complex figures, which symbolizes rejection, incestuous and obsessive passion, deceit and tragedy: consumed by guilt and shame for a feeling that cannot control, becoming a torment for her.

On 14 July 2026 the second session of the review opens. On the stage of the Catalan Arch the scenic presence of great professionals, all women, each with its own personality. Many universes that contaminate, flourish, in a growing path.

Rosanna De Bonis will be the protagonist of Sola as a Dog the 14 July at 21.00. Double replica the 15 July 2026, 19.00 hours and 21.00with Serena Stella in Studio Cappelli. On July 16, 2026 at 21:00, the audience will look at Antonella Vali all in Elena. Friday 17 July 2026 special event with thetribute to Margherita Rago with the extraordinary presence of Antonello De Rosa (double replica, at 19.00 and at 21.00).

On July 18, 2026, Tina Agrippino returns, an actress who works a lot with Ferzan Ozpetek, who last year was the protagonist of the intensive stage of Scena Teatro. Tina Agrippino will be the protagonist of “La Rifiuta” by Maria Pagano, accompanied by the dancer Giovanna Di Filippo with the choreography of Loredana Di Filippo.

For the final, the 19 July 2026 to the 21.00 hours Lalla Esposito, the singer-actress, among the most authoritative interpreters of musical theater in our country, will bring on stage one show entirely dedicated to Raffaele Viviani. A dream journey through the notes of songs and poems that are an integral part of the Neapolitan soul. A alley like so many, dark, crossroads of stories and looks, in which they slowly form scugnizzi, spazzini, guappi, prostitutes, thieves, miserable wanderers, street sellers; that humanity that Raffele Viviani portrays with his words.
