Teatro Arbostella, at the start of the 19th season: Sasà Palumbo opens with “Madama quatte solde”

The curtain on the season 2026/2027 rises with one of the great protagonists of the company Salerno. Subscriptions already from record and great wait for the new billboard

Everything is ready for the opening of19th theatrical season of the Teatro Arbostella “Gino Esposito”. The new 2026/2027 poster presents itself with a rich and varied programming, capable of alternatinggreat classics and contemporary texts, always keeping as a conductor threadquality comics, never end to itself and able to offer also ideas of reflection.

And the audience has already responded enthusiastically. In fact, the record of subscriptions of the past season has been broken down, a result that confirms the growing link between spectators and the structure of Verdi avenue, managed by Arturo Esposito and Imma Caracciuolo, artistic and organizational directors of the Arbostella Theatre. An affection already widely witnessed during the recent Arena Arbostella, which recorded particularly significant numbers. Positive experiences also come from the theatre workshops dedicated to children and adults, more and more participated.

To inaugurate the billboard will be one of the most representative protagonists of the less recent history of the Arbostella: Sasà Palumbo, who together with hisComic Company Partenopeawill bring to the stage “Madame quatte sold”, classic of Neapolitan theatre tradition written in the 1970sGaetano di MaioandNino Masiello.

A short comedy, lively and rich in paradoxical situations, set in the Naples of the Fifties, where deceptions, equivocs, subterfuges and social ambitions intertwine giving rise to a turn of characters and twists of scene.

In the middle of the story there is a woman coming from a popular Neapolitan neighborhood, with a difficult past behind her and two children had by a married man who, after abandoning her, lost his tracks. In order to safeguard the honor of the family, the protagonist builds around him an invented story, making him believe he was linked to a dead man at war.

Her economic situation changes radically and the woman moves with her children and her brother into one of the most aristocratic areas of the city. From that moment it takes shape the desire for social and cultural redemption, accompanied by the search for attendants belonging to the highest classes. This is how he comes into contact with a noble family now fallen into disgrace, which in turn seeks to raise his fortunes by combining the marriage between the son of “Madama quatte solde” and his daughter.

To upset the plans will be the arrival of an unexpected character: the real father of the children, who reappeared in the shoes of a beggar and who is really a veteran of war, just that man who the protagonist had made believe dead.

The stage entrance of other characters related to the protagonist’s past will then precipitate the events in a succession of misunderstandings and twists of scene, in a crescendo of comedy that will accompany the public until a final capable of conjugating ilarity and emotion.

The first appointment with the 19th season is therefore set for October, with three weekends of replicas: 3, 4, 10, 11, 17 and 18 October 2026, with shows onsaturday at 20.45and thesunday at 19.15.

Tickets are available at the cost of15 euro, with reduced to13 euro.

The direction of the Teatro Arbostella also invites subscribers to collect already prelated tiles, necessary for access to the room.
