The seafront of Salerno is one of the most beautiful and evocative of Italy. It offers a magnificent view of the Amalfi Coast but it is, above all, the most picturesque scenery for walking, between the green gardens and palm trees, a few meters from the city center.
The seafront is one of the three parallel axes, along which the expansion of the city developed. In fact, along Via Roma-Corso Garibaldi and Via dei Mercanti-Corso Vittorio Emanuele joins the two lembi of the old town, from the commercial port to the railway station.
Its construction, and that of the buildings overlooking it, and that still today constitute the most representative building courtyard of the city, was started in 1920, following works of transformation and settlement of the beach, in order to create a defense against the continuous erosive action exercised by the waves.
Among the buildings overlooking the seafront, walking from the beach of S. Teresa in the direction of Piazza della Concordia, you will meet the Palazzo della Provincia, the Chamber of Commerce, the Palazzo delle Poste e Telecommunications, the Palazzo di Giustizia and a series of buildings destined for offices and houses.
The waterfront continues for kilometers, largely walkable with bathing establishments and free beaches.
The seafront is a place always crowded and rich in bars and meeting rooms, it is ideal to relax but also to start a more in-depth visit of the historical and commercial center of the city.
