The Lirica and Ballet Season 2026 will be held in baptism, as usual in April 16/19, by the Verdian masterpiece will be The Cheleberrima Opera Founder which was first performed on 19 January 1853 at the Apollo Theatre of Rome. Together with Rigoletto and La traviata is part of the so-called popular trilogy. The libretto, in four parts and eight paintings, was taken from the drama El Trovador by Antonio García Gutiérrez. Verdi himself had the idea of obtaining a work from the drama of Gutiérrez, commissioning to Salvadore Cammarano the librettistic reduction.

On the podium Leonardo Sini, a young and talented Italian conductor, known for his debuts in important international theatres such as the Opéra National de Paris and Opera Australia, awarded at the “Maestro Solti” Competition in Budapest and with a rapidly growing career that sees him directing a wide opera repertoire. The gentle and elegant eye of Pierfrancesco Maestrini “will read” the royal fabric.

Orchestra e Coro del Teatro “Giuseppe Verdi” di Salerno. An exceptional cast will christen the season 2026: Maria Josè Siri soprano who has a soft, full and important stamp and a precise technique that keeps color and body sound even in the acute area; Francesco Galasso one of the most interesting tenors of his generation has collected many international successes; Ksenia Dudnikova mezzosoprano with intense and velvety voice; Roman Burdenko talented baritone, known for his powerful voice and emotional interpretations, capable of conquering the international audience.

April – Dance

In April 5 events with the dance of author: 3 shows for schools (two matinées and a general test) and two evening shows on 25 and 26, on stage there will be Carmen.
Carmen and the Destiny are the absolute protagonists of this new Carmen, faithful to the novella of Prosper Mérimée and to the work of Georges Bizet: an enchanting face to face between the gitana symbol of seduction and femininity and the disturbing figure that from the first scene leads the story. It is in fact the Destiny to put on the road of Carmen Don José before and Escamillo later, to unveil itself by hand through the symbols of the cards (love, betrayal, death), to arm the hand of Don José and, in the final, to bring Carmen with him.
Don José, the torero Escamillo and Micaela are the other main interpreters of this ballet rich in engaging choreography, from the celeberrima Habanera, to the fans of pas deux, to the many and lively dances of assemblies of Gitani, Soldati and Sigaraie made on the wonderful music of Bizet.
On stage the Ballet of Milan.

May – Mr Bruschino

In May, 8 and 10, an absolute first will be staged: Mr. Bruschino, that is, the son by chance. It is a playful joke in an act of Gioachino Rossini on libretto by Giuseppe Foppa, represented for the first time in 1813 in Venice.
Known for the famous ouverture in which the violins beat the bow on the leggio, the work narrates Florville’s amorous deceptions to marry Sofia, hindered by Gaudenzio’s guardian and by the true Mr. Bruschino.
The reinterpretation will be entrusted to the narrative garb of Raffaele Di Florio, a sensitive artist who manages to make his works fragmented and intense always crossed by the filter of intimacy and delicacy. On the podium the gesture of the Spanish director Jordi Bernàcer will make the musical passages intense and moving.
Names of first order will trample the Salerno scene for this exhibition: Maria Sardaryan soprano from the luxuriant and well-managed vocal means and from the tersa and robust voice; Fabio Capitanucci interprets with a wide voice and dark timbre, combined with a strong stage presence; Carlo Lepore, whose skill and technical looseness are accompanied by a phrasing chiseled by real outclasses and an istrionic actoral skill; Giulia Lepore mezzosoprano with arguta, light, safe, extended and well projected voice.
Orchestra e Coro del Teatro “Giuseppe Verdi” di Salerno.

May – The barber of Seville

To close the month of May, on 29 and 31, will go on stage Il barbiere di Siviglia, opera buffa by Gioachino Rossini in two acts, on libretto by Cesare Sterbini, taken from the French comedy of Pierre Beaumarchais of 1775.
From the original title Almaviva, that is the useless precaution, was composed by Gioachino Rossini with an extraordinary speed that became proverbial. Only two months passed from the contract with the Teatro Argentina of Rome signed on 15 December 1815, and the stage of the work in the aforementioned theater on 20 February 1816.
The opera is still one of the most performed in theatres around the world; it is also famous for the overture, one of Rossini’s most famous.
The refined and elegant direction will be by Riccardo Canessa, a deep connoisseur of the theatrical machine, who will join the wand of Daniel Oren who from the podium will lead the Symphony Orchestra of Salernitana on the notes of the work of Rossini.
On stage will alternate the intense and brilliant voices of: Francesca Di Sauro soprano from the voice very expressive and soave, Yaroslav Abaimov tenor with a timbre that manages to create sensations from the recalls passed by the remarkable charm, Maxim Lisiin from the excellent phrasing and the imposing scenic presence, and still Ambrogio Maestri baritone complete and personality that sings with intense and deep voice.
Orchestra e Coro del Teatro “Giuseppe Verdi” di Salerno.

October – Macbeth

In October, the 18th and the 20th, on stage the Macbeth by Giuseppe Verdi.
The genesis of the work was long and difficult for Francesco Maria Piave and Giuseppe Verdi. The Shakespearean psychological drama has engraved not little on the harmony and counterpoint of Verdi, two versions, the original one that debuted in Florence in the theater La Pergola, and the definitive one of Paris represented at the Théâtre Lyrique on 21 April 1865, work of the revisionist operation by the Master after 1860, that is, after the youth years.
The composer was developing his personal way of interpreting the theatre, tending towards the “stage word”, a text that was totally adhering to the dramatic situation. In this work Verdi still appears linked to traditional forms. The dramatic-musical action develops through closed pieces. However, there are less segmented scenes such as Lady Macbeth’s famous sonnambulism air.
The direction will be entrusted to Plamen Kartaloff director who stands out for a film approach attentive to the dramaturgy and psychological construction of the characters, with a particular sensitivity towards the visual and symbolic dimension of the scene.
The conduct of the Orchestra will be entrusted to Daniel Oren. Also for this staging on the tables of the Lirico will show internationally renowned names: Ewa Plonka, Riccardo Fassi, Galeano Salas.
Orchestra e Coro del Teatro “Giuseppe Verdi” di Salerno.

October – Dance

Also in October, still the great dance protagonist of 5 appointments (2 matinée and a general test) and two evening shows on 24 and 25.
On the tables of the Maximum citizen will dance the tips of the Ballet of Milan with La vie en rose…Bolero.
The first act consists of La vie en rose, an ironic and nostalgic work, joyful, exciting, on the most beautiful French songs that earned Adriana Mortelliti the Rieti Dance Award as best choreographer. The poetic texts are masterfully interpreted by the dancers in the suggestive peaks that tell stories of everyday life.
In the second act the famous Bolero of Maurice Ravel in the exclusive version of the Ballet of Milan: not only seduction game, but the eternal story of a birth, an inevitable attraction towards a similar being, a multiplication of meetings. A dynamic choreography that grows with music and culminates in the sensational ending.
On stage the Ballet of Milan.

November – The cheerful widow

In November, 6, 7 and 8, co-production with the Conservatory “Giuseppe Martucci” of Salerno will open its curtain on the most famous operetta of all: The cheerful widow.
The masterpiece of Lehár owes its fortune to a series of factors, which are easily reconciled during the operetta and are mutually exalted. First of all, his plot nature harmoniously gathers around a single question (the fate of the inheritance of the late husband of Hanna) a series of classical themes such as money, love, jealousy and fidelity.
The direction of Gallo will have its distinctive figure and will stand out for rigor, attention to the theatrical rhythm and enhancement of the characters, returning to the show formal elegance and communicative immediacy.
The conductor will be entrusted to Jacopo Sipari di Pescasseroli. To complete the artistic value of the production will be the presence of a cast composed of interpreters of recognized international profile like Sara Cortolezzis, Mario Cassi, Filippo Morace, Claudia Muschio, Mert Süngü.
Orchestra e Coro del Conservatorio Statale di Musica “Giuseppe Martucci” di Salerno.
For the performances dedicated to schools there will also be a cast of young singers who will be chosen by the artistic direction to perform in the matinée shows and general tests. The singers will be chosen by auditions from the department of Canto del Conservatorio itself.

December – Turandot

To close the 2026 season, on 21st and 26th December, will be the majestic Turandot by Puccini, operating from the incredible beauty though unfinished, that will accompany the spectators on a long journey into music until Beijing, at the time of the fables, where the protagonist lives, beautiful princess with the heart of ice.

A fascinating story about a love story and one of the most complex, enigmatic and disturbing women in the history of the Theatre. Opera celeberrima, unfinished and beloved, La Turandot was born for the first time in the form of theatrical fairy tale written by Carlo Gozzi, and was the Venetian Renato Simoni, already a journalist and lucky theatrical writer, to propose the oriental fable to the composer.

He will conduct the Orchestra Filarmonica “Giuseppe Verdi” of Salerno Daniel Oren, the director is entrusted to Plamen Kartaloff creative of the opera world who with his acute and attentive look will be able to give even more charm to the exhibition.

On stage wonderful voices: in the role of the title will alternate two of the most beloved voices of the international opera scene Ewa Plonka, will dress the cloths of Calaf Jeorge De Leon, internationally renowned tenors with a great interpretative ability, and in the role of Liù the soprano Vasilisa Michjlovna Berzanskaia.
