The dance of jellyfish – Luca Pannoli | Ondesign – 2023

The sea rises above the square and leaves walking under its surface. In blue, bright jellyfish are found, with coloured caps and tentacles crossed by cangiant glows. The variations of light suggest the dance, while the bubbles seem to rise to a sky become water. In this imaginary immersion, Salerno also finds the Mediterranean among its own houses. Passers can follow the movement with their eyes and let themselves be enveloped by the slowness of a submerged world, soared for one evening in the heart of the city.

Technical characteristics

The installation includes 64 meduses of different sizes, with aluminum structures and fabric or plastic rings caps; part of the covers has a coloured mesh. The planned lights of the tentacles create dynamic effects. Blue LED bursts form the marine vault, while groups of spheres illuminated from the inside simulate bubbles in the ski lift.
