The Winter Sea – Luca Pannoli – 2025

Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the most important pedestrian street in the city, frequented by citizens and tourists of Salerno. This long road axis, wide and straight, is the ideal place for light installations that exploit the prospective cone as a general compositional structure. “The Sea of Winter”, title of this installation signed by Luca Pannoli, is a state of mind, an atmosphere suspended, waiting, divided between the memory of the past summer and the desire for what will come. The title refers to the famous music song by Loredana Bertè, where the sea is not as natural as it is rather a symbol of melancholy, a place of the soul. The title, however, can also be read as an implicit reference to the Salerno Luci d’Artista event that, born in 2006 on the example of what happens in Turin since 1998, thanks to the intuition of the then Mayor Vincenzo De Luca, has transformed the winter period of the city, certainly subtono regarding summer, in an occasion of great tourist turn.
