Vittorio Veneto Square is the first stop for those arriving in the city by train and the last urban glimpse they leave behind before departing again. For the 20th edition of “Salerno Luci d’Artista,” the city chose to place here the light installation entitled “the flower locomotive,” which dialogues with the façade of the FFSS Station, combining the theme of travel with that of the ecological impact of our actions. No polluting vapors come out of the smokestack, but an explosion of large bright and colorful flowers, transforming Vittorio Veneto Square into a theater of color and lightheartedness. This early 20th century vehicle, an emblem of the Industrial Revolution and technological progress, now becomes a vehicle for reflection: it invites us to think about innovative and “green” solutions in harmony with our environment. The gleaming golden locomotive, accessible via a ladder, becomes the co-star of citizens’ and tourists’ shots, powerfully conveying the ecological message.
